The funeral of a child killed in a traffic accident this week is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
Honors flooded eight-year-old Harry Steele, who was hit by a car on Monday night.
The accident occurred around 8.20pm on Rowreagh Road in Kircubbin.
Police said the boy was hit by a car in the area before being taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.
He is now scheduled to be buried this week.
In the death notice, he is described as «the precious son of Samuel and Naomi, beloved brother of Alexander, Annie, and Arthur.»
She said a mass of thanksgiving will take place at Cardy Road Gospel Hall, Greyabbey tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at Kirkistown Cemetery, Cloughey.
His family requested that any donations in memory of Harry be paid to Air Ambulance.
Strangford DUP Representative Jim Shannon expressed his condolences to the Steele family.
He told Belfast Live: «The Steele family is very well known amongst all the local community and farming circles. They are highly respected by all and the entire community will share in their grief over the passing of their young son.
“It’s very hard to fathom and every parent’s worst nightmare.
«PSNI is investigating the circumstances of the incident and I urge anyone who saw or has footage from the dashcam to immediately report to the police.»
Meanwhile, the school Harry attended described him as a «caring young man» with an «infectious smile».
A post on their Facebook page read: «We in the Kircubbin Integrated Elementary School community are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of us, Harry Steele, under tragic circumstances.
“Harry was a popular, polite and very caring young man with an infectious smile. We will miss him very much.
«We have not yet fully dealt with this devastating news.
“We thank all parents for your understanding today as we have taken measures to go back to school tomorrow (please read today’s message and the postings sent via the school app also available on our website).
«We all grieve, but our thoughts and prayers are first and foremost with his incredibly loving family.»
