An Irish nurse has died after being hit by a car while crossing the street outside the hospital where she was working.
Anne O’Flaherty, a mother of three, from Ireland was described as a «nurse nurse» by colleagues in the wake of her tragedy death.
The Irish nurse, who worked at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, Boston, was mortally injured after being hit by a silver Audi around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The veteran nurse was hit while crossing the street outside the hospital and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene and the local police are investigating the accident.
They’re checking the brakes and safety features of the car, which was registered to a Boston native, and no charges have been announced yet, according to local reports.
In a statement, Eileen McInnes, an emergency department nurse at St. Elizabeth, said: “Ann was nurses‘ Nurse. After working in Cardinal Medeiros 6, a medical/surgical unit, Ann became an accomplished nurse in the intensive care unit. She recently held a position in the Endoscopy Unit.
“Ann directed me when she went to the ICU a few years ago. Her practice was great and she always took the finest care of her patients.

Ann, who has been a nurse at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital since 1988, is survived by her husband and three children.
A statement from the hospital said: «Our hearts are saddened by the news of this tragic incident and we offer support to the victim’s family and colleagues during this very difficult time.»
