The Metropolitan Police said a 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering teacher Sabina Nyssa.
The suspect was arrested at an address in Lewisham on Thursday and is being questioned in custody.
The force released CCTV images of a man walking in Pegler Square, Kidbrooke, the evening Nyssa was attacked, as well as a picture of a silver car they believe he can access.
Lead detectives, Neil John, of the Met’s Specialized Crime Command, said: «Our team has worked tirelessly to find the person responsible for Sabina’s murder, and this included an extensive network of CCTV, which is still ongoing.
«We’re asking anyone – especially those in Kidbrooke and the wider area of Lewisham and Greenwich – to take a close look at these photos to check if you know who this man is or have seen in recent days.
«Any information regarding his identity or whereabouts could be vital to our investigation, so we ask that you share this image widely to ensure that as many people as possible are seen.»
Nyssa, 28, was walking to meet a friend at a pub in Kidbrooke, southeast London, on Friday for a trip that was supposed to take just five minutes when she was fatally assaulted near Cator Park.
Her body was found near the OneSpace Community Center on Kidbrooke Park Road in the Royal Borough of Greenwich at about 5.30pm on Saturday.
This is the second arrest by the Metropolitan Police in connection with the attack.
On Saturday, investigators arrested a man in his forties on suspicion of murder, then released him for further investigation.
Zabel Ahmed, the woman’s cousin, said her parents «do not sympathize» after their loss.
In an interview with the BBC, he said: «We are all really devastated. Her parents were completely shocked, still imperceptible and understandably, to hear their daughter being taken away from them by a cowardly man is appalling.»
“She was honestly the most caring, kind, and sweetest girl you could ever meet. Sabina’s heart was as good as gold, and she wouldn’t have a bad word to say about anyone. Her sister will miss her very much.»
