The search continues for the Irishman, Sean McLaughlin, who went missing while hiking in the United States

The search for a missing Irishman has been going on for nearly a week after he was seen hiking in a US national park.

Rand Teton National Park in Wyoming has posted an appeal to Cian McLaughin, 27, who was last seen at 2.30pm on Tuesday, June 8.

Dublin was reported missing Sunday morning by the Tinton County Sheriff’s Office after they received a missing person report late Saturday night after he failed to show up for work on Thursday.

Then park rangers found his car early Sunday morning in Lubben Meadows Trailhead.

Searches continue in the park for the second day. Forty park employees, four local dog search and rescue teams and members of the Teton County Search and Rescue are searching for Mr. McLaughlin along with aerial reconnaissance.

According to a tip sent from a passerby, Mr. McLaughlin was last seen wearing a T-shirt, shorts, bucket hat and round sunglasses, and was not wearing a backpack.

He is described as being 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He has brown hair, collar length, and brown eyes.

«Because McLaughlin’s destination is unclear, anyone traveling in the Teton backcountry since Tuesday, June 8, may have seen it,» the appeal from Grand Teton National Park read.

«Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts should contact the National Park Service’s Investigative Services Branch.»
