A woman has died after a car crashed into a lamppost in a horror crash on Christmas Eve.
A 26-year-old driver was arrested last night after a fatal crash in Tring, Hertfordshire.
The tragic accident occurred on the A4251 at approximately 10:30 pm on Christmas Eve.
Hertfordshire Police confirmed that one car – a Volkswagen Polo – hit the central island and a lamppost.
A woman in her twenties, who was a passenger in the car, died.
Police said her family was supported by specially trained officers.
The driver, of Hemel Hempstead, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of marijuana and causing death by dangerous driving.
Police said he remains in custody.
Sergeant Simon Cooper, of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police Unit said: «Our thoughts are with the family of the victim, who have lost loved ones near Christmas.
“I appeal to anyone with information to contact.
“The car, being a 1979 model, is very special so hopefully there will be a number of witnesses. Did you see the collision or the events that led to it?
